How to maintain your Jewelry
Keeping your jewelry clean and brand new is a difficult task and requires one to know the art properly. There are plenty of cleaning agents available commercially that boast that they can do wonders to your gems especially silver however this is far from the truth. Plenty of people believe in using the most primitive method of rinsing the metal with toothpaste and say that this is how they get sparkle back to their silver.

Many use liquid detergents and a tooth brush and recommend that as the best possible method of taking care of there jewels and metals as well as keeping them clean. The best bet is to store your metal in a bag which has a zip lock so that it stays clean and away from all the atmospheric contaminants and thus the shine and texture remains as good as new for a prolonged period of time. There are specific indications attached with most metals which prohibits placing them in random cleaning agents as this can alter the color and shine of the stone irreversibly. One should thus read the attached cleaning instructions properly before starting any measures of removing time from their metals and stones.

Always complete your hair and makeup before putting on jewelry as the sprays and gels can cause serious damage to them. These products are not metal or gem friendly and the chemicals can speed up the process of deterioration of your precious ornaments by a huge leap.

Zip lock protection is essential for all silver wear however this only acts as a decelerating factor and not as a means of stopping the change completely.
